A platform where anyone - yes, anyone - can get married. The marriage will be stored forever and ever on the Ethereum blockchain.
Congrats! Someone wants to marry you. Follow the instructions if you wish to say I do and register your marriage forever and publicly on the blockchain.
First and foremost, because you want to. But also to support a greater cause, marriage equality. The more people marrying on the blockchain, the better. That way, we might not only change the digital world, but the physical, too.
It's a symbolic marriage that is stored on the Ethereum blockchain. Blockchain is a new technology that allows you to store information forever, without the involvement of any third parties such as the state or church. The most renown use case is Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency – but blockchain can be used to decentralize any system of power, not only banking. Now Björn Borg uses the same technology to open up marriages for everyone.
It's a symbolic marriage – you can't use it in court. But you can use it to send out a loud and clear message to open up marriages for everyone. And to store your love for each other, forever.
Love is free for all, and so is Marriage Unblocked. Go crazy and support a good cause in the process!
By getting married...and don't forget to share, share, share!
You can always renew your vows on the blockchain!
The more the merrier. Just write down the initials or pseudonyms of all the persons
who want to get married in the name field or in the vows. You can also register many
individual marriages to link your marriages.
Always support and believe in a free world. Björn Borg stands for equality on all levels. We want to inspire people to be more, but some people don't even have the right to be. With blockchain, we can decentralize the power and open up marriages for everyone.
When using our services, we will process personal data about you. Please read our
privacy policy to learn more about how we process your personal data. When you write your vows you are instructed to not include any
personal data (i.e. information that directly or indirectly can identify you). We will
review your vows and if you have included personal data, we will either delete the
personal data before the vow is transferred to Etherium Blockchain or choose to not
publish the vow. This is to make sure that no personal data is transferred to Etherium
Blockchain, since Björn Borg cannot guarantee adequate security of such
information, account for if personal data has been transferred outside the EU/EEA or
not, or be able to provide you with access to, erase or restrict processing of such
information.
Don’t enter your correct initials! You can use a pseudonym if you so wish.
The marriage is symbolic. We use a classic symbol of declaring your love to one
another - your initials. It’s a bit like before, when you carved them into a tree, or a
love lock. This we also do to make sure we can protect your privacy, because due to
the nature of blockchain, any information entered can never be deleted.
For your safety, you can’t write anything that can be seen as personal data, for instance:
- your partner’s name
- your dog’s name
- your grandmother’s name
- where you live
- where you work
- telephone number(s)
- your Instagram account
- your social media handles
- your email address
- where you were raised
- if you have diseases
- any other unique information that may make it possible to identify you
Anything about how much you love your partner, how you will treat them, how you
will respect the, honor them (by letting them have the last pizza slice etc), cherish,
admire and never leave them.
Patience is a virtue ;) It takes a while for the transaction to be processed on
blockchain. It might take a couple of days, depending on how many transactions are
pending. Save the link and check back later, the page will be updated once the
marriage is stored. If you have entered personal data in your vow, we will not publish
your vow.
Oh no! Your marriage is lost on the long Ethereum blockchain :( Get married again and remember to save the link this time.
At the moment we do not support a download function, but we recommend taking a screenshot of your certificate and printing it.
Stay in love! But, not all marriages last forever, so if you feel you want to get a divorce, it's possible to submit a new transaction. Just write new vows where you unpromise your promise.
Blockchain is a new technology. It's a new way to write and store code. Whatever information you enter on the blockchain will be stored in a separate block forever. It can't be changed. The most renown use case is Bitcoin, but blockchain technology can be used for many things, not only banking. Blockchain has a distributed and decentralized structure, meaning that no third parties such as states are needed. If you want to learn more about blockchain, we recommend watching this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r43LhSUUGTQ
For as long as it's needed. Your marriage on blockchain will be available forever, just make sure to save the link to your marriage certificate so that you can revisit it. You will also receive the address (also called a hash) to your marriage in the blockchain code. Save that one, too.
It is said that information stored on the blockchain is the equivalent of a digital tattoo. Once information is registered, it stays there publicly. The distributed nature of blockchain means that it is impossible to change the information once it is stored.
So, in short: the information will last as long as anyone stores a copy of the Ethereum blockchain, which is likely to be as long as humans use computers.
Blockchain is the underlying technology Bitcoin is built on, just like Marriage Unblocked. So, if Bitcoin crashes, nothing will happen, as they are separate services.
